Chelsea have all but reached an agreement to sign Argentina forward Jonathan Calleri from Boca Juniors in the January transfer window, it has been claimed.

The 22-year-old forward scored 21 goals in all competitions this season and together with Carlos Tevez formed one of the most feared attacking forces in South American football, which delivered Boca Juniors’ 31st league title earlier this year.

His performances in the Argentine top tier didn’t go unnoticed and reports emerged that Inter and Chelsea have been closely following him for months, with the English giants getting serious about making bid.

And it seems the Blues have taken a decisive step towards signing Calleri as according to Argentine daily Mundod, they have clinched a deal to secure the transfer of the forward from Boca Juniors.

It has been suggested that Chelsea have reached an agreement over a fee in the region of £6m to £9m for Calleri and the player will arrive in west London during the winter transfer window.
