Former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair feels that David Luiz will be drafted in to face Liverpool on Friday night as John Terry is unlikely to recover from an ankle injury.

Terry hurt his ankle during Chelsea's 2-2 away draw against Swansea City on Sunday and despite manager Antonio Conte insisting he is not worried because the Blues skipper is a warrior, Sinclair feels that he may miss out against Jurgen Klopp's men.

And that, Sinclair believes, leaves the door firmly open for Luiz to make his 'second' debut for Chelsea after joining from Paris Saint-Germain.

"Just looking at the injury John Terry got, I'd be surprised if he starts on Friday", Sinclair said on Chelsea TV.

"He went over on his ankle pretty badly and then having to stay on and running about on it for two or three minutes, that could be the difference between you being out for two or three weeks, because you are aggravating the injury", the ex-Blues defender continued.

Chelsea sold Luiz to PSG in 2014, but before the transfer window closed this summer snapped him up again.

Now the Brazilian could be thrown in against Klopp's Liverpool, who have already put eight goals past last season's top two, in the shape of Arsenal and Leicester City.
