Antonio Conte is confident about fielding David Luiz for his second Chelsea debut against Liverpool on Friday night.

With John Terry ruled out due to an ankle ligament injury, Conte has confirmed that that Luiz will make his second debut for the club against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

The 29-year-old Brazilian completed a shocking return to Chelsea on deadline day when the Blues paid big money to convince Paris Saint-Germain into selling the centre half.

Known for his erratic defending, Conte is expecting Luiz to be in top condition to perform against Liverpool and is hoping to see a good performance from his summer signing.

The Chelsea boss said in a press conference: “We expect him to play very well, with great attention.

“I know David is a very good player, and we are working hard to put him in the best condition for tomorrow.”

With Terry injured, Conte has indicated that he has no option but to play Luiz, but the Chelsea boss is confident that the Brazilian will prove his worth.

“It’s normal for new players to take time to adapt to the new concepts and adapt to our football, but tomorrow we need David to play in the defensive position.

“I am confident about tomorrow.”

Luiz already has 142 Chelsea appearances under his belt from his previous stint in west London, and also won the Champions League with the Blues.
