After being frozen out of the squad by boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the first half of last season, Lingard was allowed to leave on loan and join West Ham United in January.

The 28-year-old had a superb spell at the London Stadium and was instrumental in helping the Hammers clinch a European spot last term, scoring nine gaols and registering five assists in 16 outings across all competitions.

However, with the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho in the summer, Lingard has dropped down the pecking order at Old Trafford and is yet to start a Premier League game this season.

And it has been claimed that Everton are interested in taking the Red Devils star to Goodison Park in the upcoming January window, where he would be provided an opportunity to clock up game time on a more regular basis.

Everton fans have reacted to the news and Fran is not overly thrilled about signing an attacker like Lingard as he feels a new right-back, centre-back and a centre-midfielder are all priority position that need bolstering.

Andrew Banks does not see Lingard moving to Goodison Park in January as he insists signing new defenders is a priority for Everton after they were humiliated at home 5-2 by Premier League new boys Watford.

Gomes’ Left Foot is not open to the idea of bringing in a player close to 30 like Lingard, who is also on high wages and stressed Everton should instead look into snapping up another Manchester United man in Donny van de Beek.

However, Kevin Wallace feels Everton are in a need of player with the pace and ability Lingard possesses and urged them to seal a deal for him as soon as possible.

Robbie Parry meanwhile hopes to see Lingard in Toffees colours come January and stressed he is not appreciated by Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

Phillip Guimerans believes Lingard would be a good addition to Everton and can become a regular in the matchday squad, given that he proved he still has quality during his spell at West Ham.
