Frimpong came up through the academy at Manchester City and has been impressing for Leverkusen since a move to the club from Celtic in the January 2021 transfer window.

The right-back has made 32 appearances in all competitions for the German club this term and except for one game, which he missed due to suspension, has started all of their Bundesliga matches.

Frimpong though could be hoping for a future move to the Premier League as he has revealed a love for Chelsea, noting that he watched their games with his uncle.

The Leverkusen star added that it was Blues legend Didier Drogba that was the main draw for him to become a fan.

Speaking to German magazine Sport Bild, Frimpong said: “As a child, I always watched Chelsea games with my uncle, mainly because of Didier Drogba.”

The right-back has packed in eight assists this term in all competitions and has been a pivotal part of a Leverkusen team that are currently third in the Bundesliga table.

Though he may be an avid follower of the Blues, the clubs he has been linked with a move to include Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
