The Everton academy graduate started the current Premier League campaign as a bit part player but managed to impress when first team spots opened up in the squad.

Over the course of this season, Gordon has been able to nail down a starting role at Everton, catching the eye with a string of strong performances and becoming more of a fan favourite at Goodison Park with each passing game.

Even following Monday’s 5-0 league loss at Tottenham Hotspur, sections of the away fans were singing Gordon’s name in appreciation and he has expressed his gratitude to the Everton faithful, who have strongly backed him at every turn of his career so far.

Gordon added that support from the fans stirs up a crazy feeling inside him as it is more than that he ever wanted and promised he will keep on taking more responsibility on the pitch and will do the club proud with his performances.

“When I went to the bench at Old Trafford, I said to Jonjoe [Kenny], ‘Did you hear them singing my name’”, Gordon told Everton’s matchday programme for the Wolves clash.

“He said, ‘Yes, because you played boss’.

“I couldn’t believe it.

“There are no words to tell you how happy that support makes me feel. It is just boss, a crazy feeling inside. Unreal.

“My family love it because so many people out in public are treating me so nicely and saying good things.

“The other players joke with me, saying, ‘Fans favourite’.

“But they tell me it is really impressive.

“And it is, some of the videos I am sent after games are unreal.

“It is more than I could have wished for and I will never be able to thank the supporters enough.

“But I will try my best by taking responsibility and trying to put in good performances.”

Everton fans will be hoping Gordon will continue to go from strength to strength in the remaining games of the season as the club fight for their top flight survival.
