Liverpool have clawed their way back into the league title race in the second half of the season and they are just a point behind league leaders Manchester City at the moment.

 

Manchester City’s clash against the Reds at the Etihad a week from Sunday is being seen as the pivotal game in this season’s title race, but it is expected to go down to the wire regardless of the result next weekend.

 

 

Guardiola has insisted that his side have had an incredible season to be in contention for the title at this stage of the campaign and credited the club for maintaining their position

 

He conceded that Liverpool are a tough opponent and admitted that they are making it tough, but stressed that his side are more than ready to meet the challenge in front of them.

 

 

The Manchester City manager told Premier League Productions post match: “When you arrive in May challenging to lift the title it means you have had an incredible season.

 

“Being here is because we work a lot and we have done that every single season. That is a lot of credit for the whole organisation.

 

 

“We will fight.

 

“The opponent is so tough and good but they said we will make a proper battle and we accept that.”

 

Manchester City have won three of the last four Premier League titles and have been the dominant side of the era, with Guardiola heavily backed in the transfer market.
