Abramovich has put Chelsea up for sale as the UK Government have sanctioned him owing to his alleged ties with Vladimir Putin amidst the current situation regarding Russian’s invasion of Ukraine.

As the Blues edge closer to welcoming new owners, it has been claimed that the Russian oligarch is taking over Super Lig outfit Goztepe.

However, Goztepe executive director Sonmez has dismissed claims that Abramovich is buying the Turkish Super Lig side.

Sonmez added that such claims are only rumours spread by the media and there has not been any change of ownership at Gotzepe involving Abramovich.

“No, these stories about Abramovich buying Goztepe are not true”, Sonmez told Inside Futbol.

“Definitely not.

“They are only rumours reproduced by the press.”

Boston Celtic co-owner Stephen Pagliuca, Chicago Cubs owners the Ricketts family and two consortiums each led by Todd Boehly and British businessmen Sir Martin Broughton, are all part of the shortlist of preferred bidders for Chelsea.
