Everton’s season further unravelled on Wednesday night when they lost another away game and suffered a 3-2 defeat to relegation rivals Burnley.

The Merseyside club are now just a point above the relegation zone and are set to embark on a tough run of fixtures that will see them face Manchester United, Leicester, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Lampard was brought in to replace Rafael Benitez in January but he has made little to no impact and there are now question marks over his future at the club.

Osman admitted that there are doubts about whether Lampard can get the best out of the players but is unsure whether anyone can come in at this stage of the season and get a reaction from the squad.

He admitted that Everton are looking better moving forward but believes that Lampard just does not have the defenders to do the job as they have been consistently making mistakes.

Osman said on Premier League TV after the loss at Burnley: “I suppose if you are looking to keep Everton in the Premier League the question is if Frank Lampard is going to be able to get that reaction out of that team and can get enough points?

“Is there anyone else who could come in and in these eight or nine games get that reaction that is needed?

“I am not sure there is.

“It has been a difficult thing for Frank Lampard.

“He has got them playing in a way that can be quite exciting going forward but the defenders are of a certain quality that is frankly isn’t good enough, there is no getting away from that.

“Yes, he could probably tell them not to go forward, keep your banks of four in, pretty much what Rafael Benitez did, but that’s not going to work either because they keep making mistakes.”

Lampard is yet to take a single point from any of Everton’s away trips since he arrived in January.
