Maresca was the Manchester City Under-23s manager during the 2020/21 season and was highly rated at the Etihad.

The Italian got an opportunity to take charge of Serie Be side Parma in the summer of 2021 and he decided to take up that offer.

However, his time back home did not work out as planned and he was sacked by the Italian second division side in November last year.

And it has been claimed that Maresca is now on his way back to Manchester City this summer in a new role.

Manchester City boss Guardiola rates him as a coach and wants him as part of his backroom staff ahead of next season.

Maresca is keen to return and is in talks to become a part of Guardiola’s coaching staff at the Etihad.

The Italian will hope to rebuild his reputation in England again before taking another crack at management in the future.

He also served as assistant manager to Manuel Pellegrini at West Ham before his previous stint at Manchester City.
