Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign the 30-year-old midfielder from Real Madrid in the coming days.
The Red Devils are set to fork out a fee of €60m and another €10m in potential add-ons and the negotiations are at an advanced stage.
While Ancelotti stressed that the negotiations are ongoing and there is still no agreement for his departure, the Real Madrid boss confirmed that the midfielder wants to leave.
He insisted that given his service to the club, Real Madrid want to respect his desire to move on from the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Real Madrid coach said in a press conference: “I have spoken to him. He wants to try a new challenge, the club understand that.
“Casemiro for what he has done and the person he is, we must respect that desire.
“There are negotiations, it is not official, he is still our player but his will is to leave. If he does, we have resources to replace him.”
He claimed that he did not try to change the midfielder’s mind as he respects the player and if he leaves, Real Madrid want to wish him all the best.
“No [I have not tried to convince him to stay], I have only listened.
“He has helped us a lot. I listened to his will, his wish, there is no going back.
“If everything goes well for him and there is an agreement, we will wish him the best and look at what we have.
“It is difficult to speak, but we don’t know what will happen.
“If he doesn’t stay, the thanks are big for him.”
Casemiro is training with Real Madrid and Ancelotti did confirm that he will not be involved against Celta Vigo on Saturday.
