The Blues moved quickly to secure a new manager after sacking Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday morning.

Potter was in London on Wednesday for talks with Chelsea after seeking permission from Brighton and is interested in the job.

It has been claimed that talks between Chelsea owner Todd Boehly and the 47-year-old were positive and there is optimism about an agreement soon.

Potter is back in Brighton but talks will continue between Chelsea and his camp today and there is now an expectation of a deal.

It has been claimed that Potter and Chelsea are expecting to work out an agreement over the next 24 hours.

Today’s negotiations are set to focus on contractual and legal details as Chelsea close in on a new manager.

Once a deal is reached between Chelsea and Potter, the Blues will pay the release clause in his Brighton contract.

But there is now optimism at Chelsea that Potter will indeed become their new manager and could take charge of the team against Fulham this weekend.
