Alli moved to the Istanbul club in the summer after his attempts to secure game-time were frustrated at Goodison Park.

He scored a goal in his second match playing for the Turkish side, but was taken out by a thigh muscle strain, subsequently missing two games.

Alli returned for the derby against Fenerbahce last weekend but his performance was deemed to be not satisfactory.

As a result, Alli will find himself on the bench for Besiktas’ next match, according to Turkish outlet Sabah Spor.

His place in the team will reportedly be taken by his former Tottenham Hotspur player as well as current team-mate Gedson Fernandes.

Besiktas are winless in their last three games and coach Valerien Ismael wants to put out the best team to overturn that form against Giresunspor this weekend.

Alli will be hoping that his drop to the bench is just a temporary measure and he is able to make his way back to the team in short time.
