Newcastle have a chance to win their first trophy since 1969 when they take on Manchester United in the EFL Cup final at Wembley a week from Sunday.
The Magpies are also sitting fourth in the Premier League standings and are big contenders to play Champions League football next season.
However, Quinn indicated that qualifying for the Champions League was not on the agenda for Newcastle or their fans at the start of the campaign.
But he stressed that winning a trophy is mightily important and Magpies fans would take it over finishing in the top four and be in Europe’s elite club competition next season.
Asked what is more important for Newcastle, winning a trophy or finishing in the top four, the Magpies legend said on LFC TV’s Preview Show: “I think a trophy is first on the agenda.
“Newcastle fans started the season, on the back of last season, wanting an improvement and maybe a Europa League place and a cup.
“The FA Cup or the EFL Cup would be magnificent.”
Newcastle will hope to end their 54-year wait for a trophy in a little over a week and hope to build on that next season.
