Barnes is poised to be the third Leicester player after Youri Tielemans and James Maddison to secure a move back to the Premier League.

Leicester were demanding a big fee to let Barnes go, however, with the player keen to move, they have compromised on the player’s price tag.

The England international is set to join the Magpies from Championship outfit Leicester in a deal worth £40m.

And he is expected to be at Newcastle’s training ground this afternoon before he finalises his move back to the top flight.

Barnes was a sparkling light for relegated outfit last season, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists in 34 top-flight appearances.

The 25-year-old has already accepted personal terms with the Magpies and is set to become their third signing of the season.

Barnes will slot in at Newcastle to replace Allan Saint-Maximin, who is expected to finalise a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.
