After a disappointing start to the season, Everton have managed to pick up three wins from their last four games.

At the weekend, Everton managed to beat Bournemouth 3-0, with two of the goals coming from midfielders James Garner and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Dyche admitted that Everton needed to win the game against the Cherries and stressed that he was pleased with his midfield’s performance on Saturday.

The Toffees boss stated that there is real competition for places in midfield and added that he welcomes the healthy battle in that department.

“We’ve got a real battle in there for places”, Dyche told Everton’s media.

“There’s the three [Amadou Onana, Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure] who have played so much for us, but with Jimmy [Garner] playing so well, there’s a real competitive element in there.

“We want competition in there.

“I was pleased with Onana when he came in after Gana got injured.

“It’s fine lines between who to pick at the moment.

“We needed to win that game on Saturday, we won it, and the midfield players have played very well, so I’m pleased for both of them.”

Everton are 16th in the league table, three points clear of the relegation zone and they will face their Merseyside rivals Liverpool after the international break.
