Charlton Athletic have won the race to snap up striker Uche Ikpeazu from Port Vale, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Addicks want more firepower and had been battling Oxford United for the signature of Cheltenham Town’s Will Goodwin.

Despite matching Oxford’s bid for Goodwin, Charlton saw the striker snub them in order to join the U’s.

The club quickly turned to Port Vale and Ikpeazu as an alternative.

And it is claimed that Charlton have won the race for the 28-year-old former Watford hitman.

Charlton are now moving to put the finishing touches to the capture of Ikpeazu in order to put him at the disposal of boss Michael Appleton.

Vale only snapped up the striker in the summer after he departed Turkish outfit Konyaspor.

Charlton will be looking for Ikpeazu to hit the ground running at the Valley as they bid to climb the League One standings.
