Newcastle United would want either a cash sale or a loan with an obligation to buy to let Kieran Trippier join Bayern Munich, according to the Chronicle.

Bayern Munich have zeroed in on Trippier to boost their right-back options and are trying to sign him.

Trippier is open to the move happening if Newcastle can reach an agreement with Bayern Munich.

That though would require Bayern Munich agreeing either a fee for a permanent transfer, or paying a loan fee and also agreeing to an obligation to buy.

Whether those terms are acceptable to the Bavarians is unclear.

Newcastle want to make signings this month, but have been hamstrung by their efforts to stay on the right side of the Premier League’s financial rules.

Losing Trippier would be a blow for Newcastle, however it appears to be something they are open to.

Trippier, 33, has made 19 appearances in the Premier League for Newcastle so far this season.
