Liverpool managerial target Ruben Amorim has admitted that he cannot guarantee that he will be at Sporting Lisbon next season.

The 39-year-old has emerged as the favourite to become the next Liverpool manager in the summer.

The Reds are closely analysing the Portuguese coach and he could be available for €15m to the Merseyside giants at the end of the season.

Sporting Lisbon want to hold on to him but Amorim conceded that there are no guarantees that he will be back at the club ahead of next season.

However, he stressed that he is working hard with the club to make sure that the future is defined well regardless of where he will be next term.

Asked if he can guarantee that he will be at Sporting Lisbon next season, Amorim said in a press conference: “No, I can’t.

“Sporting are dealing with their future and I will not go back on my word.

“First, we will win trophies and then we will see. We are on the right track.

“The future has been a long time in the making and we are outlining what it will be.”

Amorim is not keen to think too much about the future but insisted that he will not put any pressure on Sporting Lisbon to leave as he owes a lot to the club.

“I don’t want to dwell too much on the future.

“I owe a lot to Sporting and whatever has to happen will happen but there will be no pressure to leave because I owe a lot to Sporting.

“I am very happy here.”

Despite Amorim being tipped as Liverpool’s favoured option, the Reds are still conducting their managerial search.
