Daizen Maeda has not been spotted at Celtic training today ahead of the Bhoys’ weekend Scottish Premiership meeting with Dundee.

Maeda has been expected to miss the rest of the campaign due a hamstring injury, however it was recently claimed he is on the comeback trail.

The Japanese attacker is claimed to have responded well to treatment on his hamstring and could be back to boost Brendan Rodgers’ options soon.

The weekend clash though is set to come too soon for Maeda and at Celtic training today the attacker was not involved.

Celtic are likely to be careful when easing Maeda back from a hamstring injury, with getting him ready for the closing stages of the season their aim.

Rodgers is to take his men to Dens Park to play Dundee this weekend and is likely to see no need to rush back Maeda for the game.

Subsequent games against Hearts and then title rivals Rangers may be more on the agenda for Celtic to get Maeda back.

This season Maeda has clocked 32 outings for Celtic across all competitions and chipped in with nine goals in the process.
