Liverpool are poised to complete the signing of 15-year-old winger Rio Ngumoha as he will sign the paperwork with the Reds this week, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Ngumoha has been on the books at the Chelsea academy, but Liverpool have identified him as a top talent.

The Reds were claimed to be willing to break their wage structure at youth level to land the winger and have now made rapid progress.

Arne Slot’s side have all but secured the signature of Ngumoha, beating off other clubs, and he has agreed to a move to Anfield.

The teen talent will put pen to paper to all the documents relating to the move later this week.

Comparisons may be made with when Liverpool raided another London club, in the shape of QPR, for a young winger in Raheem Sterling in 2010.

Sterling eventually worked his way through the youth set-up and broke through into Liverpool’s senior side.

The Reds have similar faith in the ability of Ngumoha and their coaches will now be given the task of unlocking the winger’s potential.
