Manchester United have announced the arrival of 18-year-old French defender Leny Yoro from Ligue 1 outfit Lille in the ongoing transfer window.

The Premier League giants have confirmed the arrival of the much-wanted teenage central defender on a five-year contract, with an option for a further year, from Lille.

Manchester United have forked out a deal worth €63m in a fixed fee and they will owe another €7m in add-ons as part of the agreement with the French outfit.

Manchester United beat off competition from Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool for the signature of Yoro, moving quickly and convincing the player about the move.

Yoro told the club’s official site: “Signing for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honour.

“Since my first conversations with the club, they set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project, and showed a lot of care for me and my family.

“I know about the history of young players at Manchester United and feel it can be the perfect place to reach my potential and achieve my ambitions, together with my new team-mates. I cannot wait to get started.”

Yoro will join Manchester United’s pre-season preparations and will fly out with the rest of the squad for their pre-season tour of the United States next week.
