Tonali is closing in on a move to Newcastle as the club push to secure a final agreement with the Rossoneri for his transfer.

Newcastle and AC Milan were engaged in negotiations all day on Thursday with a view to reaching the final agreement for the move.

AC Milan are yet to give their greenlight to the final deal but the talks are advanced enough for Newcastle to make their next move in their pursuit of the midfielder.

According to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, a team from Newcastle will put Tonali through a medical in Romania today.

The midfielder is currently in Romania with Italy Under-21s and the Magpies want to waste little time in getting everything sorted out.

Newcastle are set to pay as much as €80m to take the Italy midfielder to St. James’ Park this summer.

Unlike Inter’s Nicolo Barella, Tonali is interested in the move and wants to be part of Eddie Howe’s project.

The final deal between the two clubs will also contain a sell-on clause for the Serie A giants as well.
