Arsenal have tabled a bid for Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori, who is also a target for Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in the ongoing summer transfer window.
With Italy out of the European Championship, the race to land Calafiori is set to heat up in the next few days and weeks.
He is expected to be sold by Bologna this summer and he is a top target for Juventus where new manager Thiago Motta wants to reunite with the defender.
However, the centre-back is on the wish list of clubs in the Premier League, where Arsenal and Tottenham have been tipped to battle for him, while Liverpool are also hugely keen.
Now the first shot from the Premier League has arrived from Arsenal, as according to Italian daily Corriere dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com), the Gunners have put in an offer for Calafiori.
It has been claimed that Arsenal have tabled a bid worth €47m to take the defender to the north London club this summer.
However, it might not be enough to trigger his sale as Bologna want more money before agreeing to let him go.
Swiss giants FC Basel have a 50 per cent sell-on clause in the agreement they had with Bologna when they sold Calafiori.
The Serie A club will wait for better offers as they want to maximise their profit from his sale while still paying half of the proceeds to Basel.
